Yan Thong's Surprise Birthday Party!

Today, I went to Kimberly's house for Yan Thong's surprise birthday "bash". Me and Kimberly planned to just make cookies and a cake. The cookies were made from scratch and the cake was made from a cake mix. Anyway, we asked Sabrina, Fan Jin and Yan Thong (duh) to come. Only Sabrina turned us down, saying that she had to go to West Coast the whole day. We wanted to invite Jaclyn and Leanne but if we did, it would have been like, the day before or that morning itself so that's super last-minute and Jaclyn lives very far so yeah. And Leanne also going WC.

Fan Jin argued that she lived further from Kim than Jaclyn did. And I was like, 'But you love Yan Thong more than Jaclyn does!' o.O

Bahh, anyway, we were supposed to reach her house by 12pm. And Yan Thong by 12.30pm. I WOKE UP AT 11AM~! Ugh. I asked my mum to wake me up at 8AM so that I could watch The Amazing Race but instead, she wakes me up at 11AM. 'Cos I told her to do so earlier. BUT CHANGED MY MIND AND TOLD HER WHEN SHE WAS AWAKE about the eightey part.

Aiyah, whatever. By the time I left the house, it was 11.45AM - because must bathe, eat breakfast, pack some ingredients and some other stuff~! Oh, and it was raining like CRAZY. Like, really, really bad. Thank Goodness my mum suggested I bring a change of clothes and so I decided to wear some fugly pants and bring along a nicer pair to change into afterwards.

HOMG, like, since when were rainy days happy days, ah? I mean, the rain was so heavy that when standing in the middle of the sheltered pathway from my house to the bus stop, you still get wet~! Yes, that bad! Anyway, I'm really disgusted how some people probably find JOY in making other's days miserable. At the bus stop, as I was waiting for my bus, the people driving their cars didn't even slow down as they were driving past us. AND what were they doing, driving in the bus lanes? It's so irritating 'cos every minute, some car will zip past and the people at the bus stop move backwards immediately (and kinda mechanically), like, machines. 'Cos the water at the side of the road was being splashed violently onto OUR clothes~!! Ugh. One stupid driver of this BIG COACH kind of bus somemore SPED UP when he was nearing the bus stop! Like, homg much??

As if I wasn't wet enough...

Anyway, every time I get on the bus, I get wet AGAIN. Yes, I had gotten wet whenever exposed to that tiny gap between the edge of the bus stop and bus doors. Ohkay, whatever. Anyway, I alighted at my final destination and then walked to Kim's house. And there was no shelter at all! Fortunately, the rain was less intense but still rather heavy.

Reaching her house, I rang the doorbell but no one opened the gate and I waited for quite a while. At first it was funny but then, standing in that rain, I kind of got a bit pissed afterwards. I finally gave up hope and called Kimberly. I could even see Kimberly getting up inside the house and running towards the phone. Ohoh, then I screamed at her to open the gate and then made quite a noisy entrance, with Yan Tong, Fan Jin and Kimberly at the door and me REALLY screaming my way in. I didn't even say 'hello' or anything and ran into the bathroom to change into my dry jeans.

I came out of my bathroom to find them playing Monopoly. WITHOUT ME, LEHH!! Oh well. I didn't want to play anyway. I suck at Monopoly. I think Kimberly was angry at me 'cos I was supposed to reach her house first but ended up being last. =P

While playing, Yan Thong said something about selling something and accidentally said "sell me" and we were zomg-ing and then she said, "Noo, sell IT." o.O that's even worse~lol.

After a while, Kimberly's mom and cousin came and then we played more, and ate a bit of foood and then finally decided that we should start cooking things up. Literally. So we finally got up but OBVIOUSLY, we just weren't destined to start and spent a lot of time waiting for a miracle so that the electric mixer would be found. Okay, it wasn't THAT bad. But still.

Then we finally found it and after that, we just took turns to mix the cake and cookie dough. The cookie dough looked really revolting and everything more or less went very wrong. And it's all the butter's fault. For some reason, Kimberly's microwave doesn't work so we couldn't melt the butter. The ingredients clearly stated "melted butter, unsalted". Yeah, so it was very hard to mix the dough, even with the electric mixer. Most of the time, the mixer would stop mixing/moving because the dough was that thick.

We all thought that the cookies would be a disaster. I volunteered to try them out first (yeah, so if it's like, poisonous, then I die -- no sweat). We all were confident that they will taste horrible (Kimberly said a million times that no way she was going to eat them). After 15 minutes, we checked out the cookies. I tried one and you know what? It wasn't that bad after all. In fact, it was quite niice. Except those which were a bit burnt. I was really glad it worked out.

I thought it would be really horrible. Usually, it's sooo niice and like heaven. Anyway, we forced Kimberly to try one. She ate some more afterwards, so I take it as she was okay with it? Here's a picture of the first batch of cookies.

We had a lot of fun making the shape of the cookies with our bare hands. We were arguing about what shape they should be and hence made spheres, pyramids, cubes, cuboids, etc of different sizes. We were trying to make them bite-sized. Perhaps I should emphasize on "trying". We made about 2 more batches. Soon, the cake too was ready. Yan Thong, the birthday girl, had a phone call immediately after we took the cake out of the oven. Yes, her dad was there already! It was about 4.30pm then and he couldn't come later 'cos he had a meeting at five. =(

So she hurriedly cut the cake, put a few pieces in a box to bring home, ran to the door, wore her shoes, ran to the gate, got into the car and drove off. AND SHE FORGOT TO TAKE MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR HER! D=

Oh, and I had nothing to do so I was continuously taking pictures with my phone.
I was begging her to pose.
Omg you can even HEAR her hair go "swisshhh"
I was complaining about how I had no pictures of us waving goodbye. So even though the car had left...
I think Fan Jin was saying 'Baby, come back to me!' (That hand at the top right hand corner is Fan Jin's)
The cake. Kimberly said that usually the cake tastes much better than the cake we made.

Soon after, Fan Jin had to leave too. And then her other cousin came and basically, when it was just me left, I played card games, basketball and a bit of soccer until it was 6.50pm and I decided I should go home already. I took back home the remaining dough. It's still in my fridge, untouched.
Anyway, then life was as per normal.
WOOH, super long post much.
