Donating for free

Yeah, you read that right. Your poor little Vi has been scrambling around the internet for the past few days finding places where you can donate for free. Cash is tight this year, but people are willing to do good! If you spent copious amounts of time everyday on the internet, you are sure to like clicking around. The good news is that sometimes you are just one click away from raising money for a charity.

If clicking around is more your thing, click here. If you get bored while listening to your iPod or figuring the answers to Calculus, click around on that site. You can plant a tree, donate a mammogram, feed a hungry child. A few highlights...

FreeRice - Improve your vocabulary. It's quite fun, every correct answer donates 20 grains of rice.

The Literacy Site - I know everyone loves books. Give them to a child who deserves it. Plus, click on the tabs above and donate for other causes.

Clicks4Cancer
- Click anything on the site and you raise the money. Seriously.

If you do research every five seconds or love google to death, click here. These search engines let you donate simply by using the search engine, the amount is usually only a fraction of a cent but it all adds up. I know I use search engines every day, so I can donate a dollar or two everyday simply by searching. Again, some highlights:

Goodsearch - My absolute favourite, because they have such a wide range of charities and you can even donate to schools. The Goodshop there is awesome too, they donate a percentage of your total purchases to the specified charity. Shops there include iTunes, ebay, amazon.com, and sells things from cosmetics (Sephora) to sports equiptment (Nike).

Magic Taxi - Easy to use tool, because you can switch between searching Yahoo, kelkoo (shopping), Wikipedia (encyclopedia), travel and acessing your email.

SearchKindly - Vote for the charity SK donates to, the one with the highest vote each month gets the money.

GoodTree - GoodTree has an iGoogle kind of look, which is very helpful.

Note that some of the websites don't work anymore because of sponsor withdrawal or other reasons, but 95% of them still works. I know these sites are plastered with ads, but please take some time out and click or use these search engines for your research. It is well worth the time =]
